Rare (≥1/10,000 to <1/1,000): Priapism (a prolonged and painful erection lasting more than 4 hours), hypersensitivity reactions, sudden hearing loss, NAION. Patients experiencing an erection lasting more than 4 hours must seek immediate medical attention to avoid permanent tissue damage.
Drug interaction
The most critical interaction is with nitrates, which is contraindicated. Other significant interactions include:
- Alpha-blockers (e.g., doxazosin, tamsulosin): Concomitant use can potentiate the blood-pressure-lowering effects, potentially leading to symptomatic hypotension. Dose separation or alternative therapy should be considered.
